Kenergy Holdings Corporation, operating as Kenergy Performance is committed to providing programs and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We want every athlete, parent and visitor to be able to take part, and we work to remove barriers wherever we can.
01
Our commitments
- Accessible communication: we communicate in a way that takes each person's disability into account. Our policies, forms and program information are available in another format, such as large print, a plain text email or a phone or video call, on request at no cost.
- Assistive devices: people may use their own assistive devices, such as mobility aids, hearing devices or communication devices, at our programs, as long as the facility allows it safely.
- Service animals: people with disabilities may bring a service animal to the parts of a venue open to the public, unless the law or the facility excludes animals from an area, such as a pool deck or the water. If so, we'll work with you on another way to take part.
- Support persons: a person with a disability may bring a support person. For youth athletes, a support worker can attend with the athlete. We don't charge a fee for a support person at our programs. Facility admission fees, if any, are set by the facility.
- Adapting programs: we specialize in programming for Special Olympics athletes and adapt sessions to each athlete's needs. Tell us what helps at registration or by email and we'll plan for it.
- Venues: many of our sessions happen at public facilities. We choose accessible venues where we can, and share accessibility details on request. If a venue becomes partly inaccessible, for example an elevator or pool lift is out of service, we'll tell you as soon as we know and offer another option.
- Our website: we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. If anything on kenergyperformance.com is hard to use, tell us and we'll help you another way and work to fix it.
02
Training
Everyone who coaches or works with the public for us is trained on serving people with disabilities, including how to communicate respectfully, use assistive devices, work with service animals and support persons, and what to do if someone is having difficulty accessing our programs. Our coaches also hold NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability and Special Olympics coaching training.
03
Temporary disruptions
If something that people with disabilities rely on is unavailable, such as an accessible entrance, washroom or pool lift, we'll post a notice or contact registered families with the reason, how long it's expected to last and the alternatives available.
04
Feedback
We welcome feedback on how we serve people with disabilities. You can share it with any coach, or email hello@kenergyperformance.com. We'll reply within 5 business days, explain what we'll do, and keep your feedback confidential. Feedback is available in another format on request.
